DIRECTOR’S NOTES

Welcome to Fairytale High!! We are thrilled to have you as part of not only the world premiere of this original work, but also the inaugural event of the Northglenn Youth Theatre’s Playmakers ensemble. Playmakers presents a unique opportunity for young people to have a different level of engagement in the creative process, through devised theatre – a collaborative approach to creating an original theatre piece with no pre-existing script. Using improvisation, games, writing activities, music, visual art prompts, and more this creative group of young people played, brainstormed, and dreamt up the story you’re about to see over a handful of rehearsals. It has been a delight to witness their growth, creativity, teamwork, and friendship over the last few months. Kyle and I are grateful to have taken this whimsical and hilarious journey with them and are looking forward to the worlds we have yet to build together. Thank you to Patrick, Kimberly, and the NYT family for championing this process. And to you, dear audience, for supporting this work.

She has also written several monologues to portray historical figures including Nellie Bly and Ada Lovelace through Young Chautauqua.
