WELCOME TO THE 2025 NUTCRACKER!
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 production of The Nutcracker, presented by Colorado Conservatory of Dance (CCD). This cherished tradition has shaped generations of dancers since 1993, and we are deeply grateful to our community for your continued belief in CCD and in the power of dance to create Better Lives Through Dance. This season, we are delighted to continue our commitment to culturally authentic choreography in Act II, honoring global dance traditions that broaden our dancers’ artistic understanding while enriching the experience for our audience. Our students have embraced this work wholeheartedly, bringing fresh energy and curiosity to the rehearsal process. We are also honored to welcome remarkable guest artists whose artistry elevates this production and oers invaluable inspiration to our dancers. This year, we proudly collaborate with Taiwan Ballet Company, along with guest artists Madeline Bez, Sean Miller, and Jessica and Jay Markov. Their diverse backgrounds and professional experiences add depth and richness to our Nutcracker story. As you watch today’s performance, I hope you feel the dedication, joy, and collaboration that our dancers, faculty, production team, and families bring to this beloved tradition. Thank you for being here, and for supporting CCD’s mission and community. We look forward to celebrating many more Nutcracker seasons with you.
Warmly,
Sandra Shih Parks Executive & Artistic Director
Colorado Conservatory of Dance
Synopsis Act I At the Stahlbaum annual Holiday Party, Clara receives a magical nutcracker doll from her mysterious godfather, Drosselmeyer. As the clock strikes midnight, Clara finds herself in a battle between a group of large mice led by a Rat Queen and the soldier dolls commanded by the Nutcracker. By working together, Clara and the Nutcracker defeat the Rat Queen. After this battle, the Nutcracker transforms to a real prince, and Uncle Drosslmeyer accompanies Clara to a fantastical realm through the snowy forest, where the snowflakes dance around Clara.

Act 2
Upon entering the magical land, angels show Clara and Drosselmeyer the way into a Land of Sweets. Clara and Drosselmeyer are greeted by Sugar Plum Fairy and her friends including Spanish dancers (Chocolate), Arabian dancers (Coee), Chinese Dancers (Tea), Russian Dancers (Candy Canes), French mirliton player (Marzipan), and Dew Drop. These whimsical characters all come together to celebrate the bravery of Clara by sharing their dances with them.
