NYT Technical Crew Experience

The Northglenn Youth Theatre (NYT) has been providing young people the opportunity to perform in professional live theatrical shows since 1994. Each year, NYT mounts six productions performed at the Parsons Theatre – three for NYT (12-18 year old performers) and three for NYT Jr. (8-12 year old performers). NYT has received numerous local and national awards, and since its inception had over 1000 participants.

If you love theatre but prefer to work behind the scenes, the NYT Tech Crew may be a great opportunity for you!

Each Northglenn Youth Theatre production requires a Technical Crew to perform. This is a registration-based program that allows youth participants ages 13 to 18 the opportunity to work with professionals in a hands-on environment. Participants learn some of the equipment and techniques used in the professional theatre world, giving them a complete backstage production experience.

The NYT Academy Intro to Tech Theatre Class is recommended to join an NYT3 Production Technical Crew, but not required.

Upcoming NYT Productions & Tech Crew Timelines:

NYT3 Production Technical Crew – NYT’s The Wizard of Oz

Ages 13-18

For each theatrical production staged by NYT/NYT Jr., we have a technical crew of teen participants who support all the needs of the show backstage, from costumes and props to lighting and scenery. If you would like to be part of the NYT tech crew, you will need to meet with the Northglenn Arts Technical Team for an interest interview. Then, if selected, you will attend a production-specific learning workshop, and participate in a designated production schedule, supporting some rehearsals and all performances of the given production.

This is a registration-based program open to youth, ages 13-18, who have a strong interest in technical theatre. The selected interviewees will be a part of the production from tech rehearsals through performances.

Interview Dates: Sunday, March 15th & Monday, March 16th

Rehearsal Dates: April 11th-23rd

Performance Dates: April 24th-May 2nd

Participation Fee: $30, payable only if selected (Needs-Based Scholarships Available)
