DIRECTOR’S NOTES – Kimberly Jongejan

Well my friends, the time has come.

How does one reflect on a 30-year adventure filled with epic tales, riveting drama, twisted story-lines, alliances, sickness, achievements, losses and a whole mess of hot glue? In moments? In fingerprints? In joys? Laughter? Tears? Yes. All of that and more.

It’s literally impossible for me to express the level of appreciation and awe that is housed in my heart. The list of all those who have been part of this adventure is so very long; it’s honestly overwhelming, and I only wish I could effectively share the intensity of my gratitude. What an honor to have been part of this for so many years. Thank you to every NYT participant, family member, supporter, creative artist, leader, champion, and, yes, even the critics for molding and shaping this program into this incredible place. Thank you to the incredible team of co-workers, mentors and artists who have put in countless hours crafting the most wonderful of spaces. Your trust, investment, keen eye, helpful hands and artistic outpouring represent what sheer beauty there is in community. And that has been the most wonderful gift – watching this community blossom: for the kids, for the families, for the community and for the future artists and audiences to come. So, to answer my own question, how does one reflect? Step back, pause and take in the beauty. NYT truly is a beautiful thing. May the wonder never cease. May the joy never leave. May the light always shine. With gratitude – Kimberly

Kathryn is so honored to, for her 11th NYT show, get to play a role as iconic as Dorothy. Previous credits include Sister Act (Mother Superior),Something Rotten(Portia), The Tempest (Miranda), and The Addams Family (Alice). She’d like to thank her family for their support, and specifically her older sister Anna, who has played the comparably iconic role of Mr. Bundles in Annie. Without her inspiring, Shatner-esque display, none of us would know the definition of theatre as it stands today. Enjoy the show, and be warned! The Laundryman Cometh.

Lilly Sergeeff… US Dorothy/Ensemble

Lilly is thrilled to be back for her 11th show at NYT, and her 26th show total! She is beyond excited to be understudying in her all time dream show since she was 3 years old! Jersey is so overjoyed to be playing Scarecrow U/S in her 2nd play at NYT! Goodbye NYT, there’s no place like home!

Logan Spatafore… Lion

Logan is not too cowardly to confess this is his dream role! He’s aspired to play the Lion since his first audition, at 5; he accepted the role of Doorman where his tiny frame & powerful stage presence ignited a life’s passion for performing. This production is his 13th at NYT- some of his favorite roles include Fester Addams Family and Olaf Frozen) When not on stage, Logan loves creating crafts and stop-motion videos.
