UPCOMING

TWO PLAYS IN REPERTORY

For NYT’s “plays in repertory” means that it is one of several different plays being performed across the same period, each show performed on particular days.

Northglenn Youth Theatre Jr’s Cinderella -The Fairy Godmother’s Spell by Edith Weiss

Jan 24 – Feb 2

What if Cinderella’s problems aren’t solved by a Fairy Godmother, but she has to work on them herself? This Fairy Godmother gets her to the ball, but Cinderella has to find the courage to stand up to her sisters. What if the Prince wasn’t just a cipher but a painfully shy person? This play is about friendship and the realization that magic wands don’t fix everything.

Northglenn Youth Theatre’s The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by Don Zolidis

Jan 24 – Feb 2

The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicking ride as two narrators and several actors attempt to combine all 209 stories ranging from classics like Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel to more bizarre, obscure stories like The Devil’s Grandmother and The Girl Without Hands. A wild, free-form comedy with lots of audience participation and madcap fun.

Northglenn Youth Theatre’s Something Rotten

APR 25-MAY 4

A musical comedy set in the 1590s, following the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, struggling playwrights overshadowed by the famous Shakespeare. In a desperate attempt to outshine the Bard, they seek the advice of a soothsayer, who suggests they create the world’s first musical. As they navigate the eccentricities of the theatrical world, hilarity ensues with clever wordplay, catchy tunes, and plenty of references to classic musicals and Shakespearean works. The musical explores themes of ambition, creativity, and the timeless pursuit of artistic success.
